What is an alternative to botox?

Botox

I want to reduce wrinkles but I do not want to become completely emotionless in the face. Is that an alternative to botox but with a similar effectiveness? Or are there different levels of botox?

Answered October 31, 2010 21:54. Since 2001, there has been only one Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved botulinum toxin formulation (Botox) available for commercial use for facial aesthetics in the U.S. A second formulation of botulinum toxin (Dysport) was FDA-approved in the past year. Both products can reduce facial wrinkles and lines effectively. A milder clinical response (so that a totally emotionless face is avoided) can be achieved with the use of smaller quantities of the botulinum toxin. A physician with advanced knowledge of facial anatomy can best determine the proper amount of product to place in various facial muscles in order to obtain the clinical effect desired.
