I have a sore throat and a cough shortly after getting over a cold.

So I had a few days where I had a cold. Stuffy nose, sore throat, cough, and fatigue. I got over it and started to get better, but then, about a week later, I started to experience another sore throat and coughing. The sore throat has lasted about 3 days now, with the cough being about the same throughout.

Any idea what's wrong?

Answered November 09, 2011 14:56. It's possible that you have a sinus infection. A bacterial sinus infection is generally a complication of the common cold. Symptoms are generally worsening of nasal congestion and drainage after at least 10 to 14 days of the start of a cold. Are you coughing anything up? Have you tried nasal irrigation or a Neti pot? These things might show you yellow to green drainage and help answer the question. Other possibilities exist, and would require an evaluation by a doctor.
