Knowledge is not enough. Experience is not enough. Preparation is not enough. Passion is not enough. It takes all of these qualities, in generous proportions to have what you need in a great personal injury lawyer.
1
Knowledge is not enough
A good personal injury lawyer knows the law, knows the case, knows the medicine. But all of that knowledge can go to waste without the other qualities of experience, preparation and passion. If you are looking for a great lawyer, seek all of these qualities, and don't settle for less.
2
Experience is not enough
We have all seen it. A lawyer in the courtroom who has been there too long. They have no passion and are not prepared. The results are awful. Evidence is left out, questions aren't asked, persistence on important points is forgotten. An experienced lawyer must be prepared to do battle, not to settle for mediocrity.
3
Preparation is not enough
Many young lawyers prepare well. But they lack judgment, skill and finesse. They try cases by fighting every battle, even over insignificant issues that undermine their own credibility. The results are a muddled message to their jury. What is missing is the skill that comes from experience and knowledge of what the jury needs to know.
4
Passion is not enough
When a jury is being sold with overwhelming effort, a case that makes no sense, the jurors become irritated with the passionate lawyer and often punish the lawyer's client. Smart lawyers know what cases do not belong in front of a jury, and what cases do.
5
Choose your lawyer based upon all of these factors, and you will be successful.
I wish you the best!
