U.S. Department of Education Releases Updated Section 504 GuidanceThe United States Department of Education released a revised "Frequently Asked Questions About Section 504 and the Education of Children with Disabilities" on March 27, 2009. Issues addressed in the FAQs are the interrelationship of IDEA and Section 504, students protected under Section 504, evaluations, placement, and procedural safeguards. The FAQs also address "mitigating measures" and "major life activities," as those terms are used in the new Americans with Disabilities Amendments Act of 2008. 2
