The U.S. Constitution- Article the Tenth (Amendment VIII)

In today's highly charged political rancor, many refer to the Constitution as the grounding for their political belief and their position as regards specific laws and institutions. What follows are the actual words our Founding Fathers used in creating and negotiating the original Constitution, and the subsequent Bill of Rights:

Article the tenth [Amendment VIII]

Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.
