Stop Global Credit & Collection, Inc., Harassment

Posted by attorney Michael Agruss

Global Credit & Collection, Inc. (Global), was established in 1999 and is an accounts receivable management company. Global’s business includes collecting on unpaid, outstanding account balances. Global has call centers in Markham Ontario, Montreal Quebec, and in Panama City Panama. Global also has an office in Williamsville, NY. According to its Web site, Global represents clients in the financial services and telecommunications sectors.

Global appears to be based out of Canada, which may be the reason why Global has a difficult time complying with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). The FDCPA has been around for almost 35 years. The FDCPA is a federal law that applies to every state. In other words, everyone is protected by the FDCPA. The FDCPA is essentially a laundry list of what debt collects can and cannot do while collecting a debt, as well as things debt collectors must do while collecting a debt.

According to the Public Access to Court Electronic Records (PACER), Global has been sued about 250 times since 2010. That’s more than two lawsuits a week over the last two years. In fact, in 2011, Global was sued 125 times for harassing debt collectors. Additionally, the Better Business Bureau processed over 100 billing/collection issues regarding Global in the last three years.

If Global has harassed you over a debt, whether they called you excessively, threatened you, called you at work despite knowing you cannot receive these type of calls at work, disclosed your debt to a third party, or left you voicemail messages without the proper disclosures, contact Agruss Law Firm, LLC, for a free case evaluation.
