Never Take Field Sobriety Tests in California
Officers are trained to get information out of you so they don't have to give you Miranda warnings. Avoid this game. Don't tell them where you are coming from, when you slept last or how long. Don't tell them when you ate last or what you ate. Don't tell them what time you started or stopped drinking or what or how many drinks you had. Don't take any field sobriety tests including the hand held Preliminary Alcohol Screening test. Go to jail and take the blood test or breath test after you are arrested, and don't answer any other questions except your name address, general info; even if threatened, but always take the State required Chemical Test, either breath or blood. If you take breath, not the preliminary one, the chemical one, don't take another test unless demanded to do so for drugs, ask why and don't volunteer. Contact a DUI Lawyer immediately, and have the lawyer contact the DMV to protect your driving privilege.
Never Volunteer Information
Answer only questions about your health, your name, address, social security, phone number, and employment. Never, never, never give information about your drinking and driving as stated above. The Officer will try to make this sound like it has something to do with the field sobriety test he or she is going to give you; not so. They are gathering information for their toxicologist to convict you. You will go to jail by following these steps, but you will increase your chances of success and protect your Constitutional Rights by following this advise. If the Officer threatens you, get his or her name, demand your chemical test only and tell the Officer you have nothing further to say, and again DEMAND your chemical test.
