Long-term care facilities where negligence may result in preventable injury include: Nursing homes Post-surgery and post-injury rehabilitation facilities, in hospitals or away from hospitals Assisted living facilities Falls resulting from lack of monitoring and protection are the most commonly reported nursing home injuries. Other accidental and abuse-related injuries in nursing facilities include: Bedsores (skin ulcers) Malnourishment Dehydration Medication errors Choking due to ignorance of doctor-ordered dietary restrictions Unexplained bruises pointing to sexual abuse or physical abuse by staff members or fellow residents
