Summary of NJ DUI/DWI Penalties:
1st Offense:
If your BAL (Blood Alcohol Level is 0.10 or greater, you are facing the following:
1. 7 to 12 month loss of driving priviledges;
2. 0 to 30 days in jail;
3. 12 to 48 hrs in IDRC;
4. $300 to $500 fine;
If your BAL is 0.15 or higher, an ignition interlock device will be ordered by the court and installed at your expense.
If your BAL is 0.08 to not more than 0.10 and this is your 1st Offense, you will face a 3 to 6 month suspension and a fine of $250 to $500
2nd Offense (BAL is 0.8 or higher)
1. 2 year suspension;
2. 48 hrs to 90 days in jail;
3. 48 hrs in IDRC;
4. $500 to $1000 fine
5. an ignition interlock device will be ordered by the court and installed at your expense.
3rd Offense (BAL is 0.8 or higher)
1. 10 year suspension;
2. 180 days in jail;
3. 48 hrs IDRC
4. $1000 fine
5. an ignition interlock device will be ordered by the court and installed at your expense.
