Ability to Break Lease

Victims who obtain a final protective Order may now lawfully break a lease with 30 days notice and not be charged more than those thirty days rent and any damage done to the premises during the term of the lease.

Change of Locks

A landlord must now allow a victim to change their locks after obtaining a Final Protective Order to assist in keeping their abuser from the premises

No eviction

A victim of domestic violence cannot be evicted because of the events that lead them to seek court intervention.
