The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court has rejected a legal challenge of the state's 2009 child support guidelines by a Boston-based father's rights group. The group contended that the laws were illegally set by a judicial committee, but the state argued it granted the committee power to craft the guidelines decades ago. The organization argued the guidelines allow for excessive "support for the children from a first marriage," and offer different rules for fathers where were previously married versus those that were not.
