It's never too early to talk with an attorney to get advice and to evaluate your case. I often encourage clients to keep a daily log of their pain and the doctors appointments they have to attend. Hiring an attorney early will also allow you to focus on recovering instead of having to deal with adjusters or worry whether you will have an actionable case against the at fault driver.

Aren't lawyers expensive - how can I afford representation?

In auto accident cases most attorneys will offer a contingency fee agreement. This means that they attorney won't collect a fee unless there is a recovery in the case. Typically, this fee is 33% of the total recovery. It's a no lose situation for the client because they don't have to pay anything unless the case is won.
