If you believe that your spouse may be contemplating a divorce, it is important for you to set aside as much money as possible in a separate account or location, so as not to end up like many clients whom I have counseled whose spouses filed for divorce just after emptying the family bank account.
1
Identify Whether Your Spouse May Be Contemplating a Divorce
You may want to review the family financial records to see if your spouse is spending any money that is out of the ordinary or which would indicate that he/she is planning a separation.
2
Open a Separate Account
Save money. In the event your spouse does file for divorce or leave the family unit, you will have funds with which to support yourself and/or your child(ren).
