A few basic things to keep in mind if you get a high pressure sales call.

Your Best Option: Hang up.
Simply, hang up. Do not be worried that you are being rude - remember that the caller has interrupted you whether they call during dinner or at other times of the day. You have no obligation to listen to sales people on the phone. I recommend saying, "No thank you, please put me on your "do not call" list and I am hanging up now." Then hang up.

What is happening with the cold call.
Be ware of the 'three call" system. Brokers will call you and the first two calls will be to try to establish some type of rapport with you and may include the broker touting his or her past successes. Be very skeptical. The third call the broker will try with all their might to get you to in some way say 'yes.' Brokers will take great liberties with what you say to create an order ticket so please be clear with the broker that you do not want to buy anything. If you do this you will be less likely to get an order confirmation for a stock purchase you did not order. And if you do get such a trade confirmation after you told the broker "no" in

You should never give any personal information to a caller. This includes your social security number, any personal details, or anything else.
