Although I do not recommend any one to do this; nevertheless there are many people that cannot afford a good lawyer and thus I have decided to write this legal guide for those less fortunate.
1
Select the right jury
To do this, you have to find people from the jury pool that are going to be sympathetic to your case. For example, if you are charged with a DWI, you do not want any body that belongs to Mothers Against Drug Driving, not that they would be bad jurors, but they may be prejudiced against you from the very start.
2
Your Opening and Closing statements need to humanize you
To win a jury, they have to see you as a human. You have to put them on your place, and make them understand that the same could happen to them. Prosecutors are well known for doing the opposite, so you have to play the game as well.
3
Present evidence that would exculpate you
This is done by witnesses, experts, perhaps character witnesses and many more. Request any exculpatory evidence from the prosecutors before the trial and any evidence that they are going to use against you, that way you can be prepared.
4
Don't be nasty towards the prosecutors, let them be nasty towards you
Again, remembering that jurors are going to determine your faith, if they can see themselves in your position, and how rude the prosecution can be, you may have a chance that they would be compassionate towards your case.
5
Always tell the truth
You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. One of my favorite scriptures says and the Lord will never let the innocent be condemned or the guilty be released. Use this in front of the jury, it works!
