Spousal abuse can take many forms, including physical abuse or mental abuse. There are many ways. Abuse may also take the form of a spouse attempting to control every aspect of the other spouse through force, threat or intimidation. Victims of abuse also include men who are abused by women during the course of their marriage.
What should an abused person do?
The first thing is contacting the police and reporting the abuse and request a copy of the report. Then seek medical attention and document your injuries. Seek shelter. If the abused person is afraid of immigration consequences, contact an experienced immigration lawyer.
