Yes, if you have children from a previous marriage and/or money. A pre-nuptial agreement will preserve money for your children as well as provide peace of mind (even if you do not have children) for yourself in the event your marriage does not work out. NOTE: this applies to men and to women.

Why does the pre-nuptial agreement help if I have children from a previous marriage.
You work hard for your money that you want to give to your children and if you spouse gets 1/2 of it during the divorce or worse he/she spends all their money during the marriage and now wants half of the money you had saved for your children then you may be out of luck in court unless you had a pre-nuptial agreement. (Actual Case). Worse you die and your spouse of only 2 years gets to live the rest of her life in your luxury separate property house because the law lets her do that because you did not get a pre-nupt. (That is the law and the reason you want a pre-nupt!)

I have no chidlren to consider why should I get a pre-nupt.
If you have no money then get married and don't worry about it. If you have a lot of money, then it is a good idea to agree on what each of you gets in case things do not work out. You never know if your spouse may have conned you in to getting married. For example, she tells you she has only been previously married twice when in fact it was 8 times, or, he tells you all about his successful job and then find out after marriage he is actually bankrupt and was looking to get some of your breast implant money. (These are actual cases!)
