Can a Debt Collector contact my co-workers at my work?
Generally Speaking, No! Debt Collectors are only able to call third parties to either "Confirm or Correct" your location information. If they are speaking with someone at your work (assuming they are not trying to enforce a judgment) it seems pretty clear to me they already know how to contact you. As such, it would be difficult for a debt collector to say they had a reason to confirm or to correct your location information. After all, couldn't they have just asked for you?
Can a Debt Collector contact my boss?
As we explained above, debt collectors cannot speak with third parties unless its to confirm or to correct your location information. The fact that they speak to your "boss" proves that they know who your boss is. Therefore, in my opinion, the fact they are even speaking with your boss shows they are doing it to harass rather than to confirm or correct your location information. After all, why did they go straight to your boss? They could have easily asked for you or asked your receptionist (assuming you have one) to correct or confirm your location information.

Debt Collectors are calling me at work - Can you give me a brief synopsis of the law?
Basically, under the FDCPA debt collectors are allowed to contact you to collect a debt as long as they treat you fairly, are not rude, do not lie, and respect all of your requests. They cannot lie to you, threaten to do anything they don't intend to do, or make any misrepresentations while collecting debt. So, while the FDCPA understands that consumers need to pay their debts, it requires that debt collectors act respectfully while doing so. You need to make a living to pay your debt back. Therefore, Congress recognized that you should not be bothered at work with debt collectors calling you there simply to harass you!
