Custody Evaluation Tip #7: Don't Rehearse

Don't: Take this advice too literally.

You don't want to sound rehearsed. And remember, these guides are designed to be general tips, rather than specific advice that considers your own unique set of circumstances. Speak in your own voice. Don't try to memorize what you are going to say beforehand. Remember that you cannot know exactly what you are going to be asked beforehand, so you need to remain flexible and prepared for anything.

Do: Prepare yourself and go in with a game plan in mind. Know what you want to talk about. Bring in notes if necessary, but don't expect the evaluator to want to talk about the same topics that you do (his or her focus may be entirely different and you need to be prepared for that).
