Education
law is the branch of civil law that deals with students, teachers, and school
systems. Each state is required, in its constitution, to provide children with
an education; the federal government, because of funding requirements, also
helps determine how schools are run. Education laws cover matters such as
educational standards, school district and school board authority, student
attendance, discipline, and dress code requirements.
A main concern of
education law is to prevent students from being discriminated against due to
race, sex, or national origin. Additionally, the law requires that children
with disabilities receive special educational assistance. If you think your children
have been unfairly disciplined or expelled, sexually harassed, or otherwise
discriminated against, an experienced attorney can help ensure they receive the
education they're entitled to by law.
