State
and federal laws governing agriculture cover a broad range of issues involving
plants, animals, land use, food products, and environmental rules. Activities
covered in agricultural law include everything from planting seeds and raising livestock,
to harvesting and selling food products. As farming techniques increasingly use
advanced technology, agricultural law has become more complex, covering such
areas as aquaculture (cultivating seafood), international trade, genetically
modified organisms, pest management, farm waste, intellectual property, and
real-estate agreements.
