When a change of status is denied, does it void the visa that you have?

I'm on H1B work visa which is valid for another year. I also attend a full time MBA. I would like to apply for COS to F1 and drop my H1B visa. If the COS is denied for some reason, will I still be in H1B status? I have paystubs and everything. I won't stop working until I get the COS answer.

If the COS is denied you will remain on valid H1B status as long as you continue to work without interruption.
