What is the Statue of Limitations for a personal loan to a family member in GA?

Asked over 1 year ago - Newnan, GA

I loaned a family member $6000 in Dec 2009. They have never made a payment and now still keep saying they need more time. Can anything still be done legally?

Answered . Possibly. There is a statute of limitations after which you cannot sue (4 years on oral agreements, 6 on most written ones). Since you are running out of time, you may want to sue now. Given the size of the debt, suing in small claims (Magistrates Court) may be a good choice.
