You've provided no details about what kind of business you want to do with this company other than putting it under "real estate," but you can do your own searches with the Better Business Bureau, Dept. of Real Estate, Secretary of State, public records, credit check, etc., or hire a lawyer to do it for you.
And obviously you need a lawyer to protect you contractually in any transaction with this company, should it be advisable to go ahead with a transaction.
