Do days as alien resident(prior to greencard) count for # of days of physical presence in US when applying for naturalization?

I have been a permanent resident of the United States for about a little less than 2.5 years. I am considering to apply for naturalization in the near future. Although I've been a PR for almost 2.5 years, I have been lawfully residing in the United States prior to that, for about 8 years, as an alien (international student.) Do any of these days of residency count towards the legal requirements for physical presence in the United States at all?
