In company, I know the following case is legal:
Suppose I am now working in A company with a H1B status which occupies 1 cap. If I find another position in B company, on the date that B company submits the application for H1B, I can work for B company at once without waiting for H1B approval.
Since the application in campus doesn't have the H1B cap limit, is it also suitable for the company-application case? I mean, for instance, I am now with H1B status in campus, and have found a position in a company. The company will apply H1B for me. But before it is approved, my current contract will end and the H1B status will become invalid. Is it still legal to stay in US within the period (from contract ending date to H1B approval/effective date)?
All your questions are very good and should be considered while planning out the carreer. If only you could consult with an attorney in private you could ask about all the different scenarios. Best Wishes!
