hi my name is annie. this is my story i came to america( phoenix) in 2005 stayed there for 45 days got my green card and then went back to india to finish up some business..then i came back in 2006 and started living in america ever since.. in december of 2007 i got married and my husband is an L1 visa holder. now me and my husband are currently living in milwakee since september..now my question is how long till will take for me to get my citizenship and when can he apply for a green card
It does not sound as if you obtained legal permanent residency because of your marriage. Moreover, you husband appears not to be a US citizen. Thus, you likely cannot use the shorter wait time (3 years) to apply for US citizenship that would be available to an LPR who is married to a US citizen.
The wait time before most aliens can apply for US citizenship is 5 years. The naturalization application can be filed 90 days before end of the wait time.
You can review the Guide to Naturalization to see if you meet all the requirements to become a US citizen. The Guide is free from USCIS at http://www.uscis.gov/natzguide .
If you are an LPR, you can apply for a green card for your husband now. However, the wait time for a visa number to become available is almost 5 years.
