Can one leasee sue for 3 x full rental amt?

My home was rented to two individuals. One is sueing me for not returning the security dep in a timely manner. Refund checks were mailed within a week of notication 45days after moveout when tenants finally provided forwarding address. Checks have not yet cleared my account - Is this your question?
