me and my 2 daughters came to u.s in 2005 on visit visa.and were living as an illegal immigrant .now my sister wants to adopt them.

  1. After April 2008, adoption from certain countries is governed by The Hague Convention regulations. I suggest that you hire an immigration attorney to find out if adoption is your option.

  2. Whether she can adopt is not an immigration question. However, in order for them to receive immigration benefits through the adoption, the adoption must happen before their 16th birthday and must comply with the provisions of the Hauge convention, if applicable.

  4. Agree with my colleagues. I would add CIS would have to believe that the adoption was not done for immigration purposes. They would have to believe that it was a bona fide adoption.
