i had a B2 visa of ten years in 2009. i change my status to F1 which is approved. But i travel to my home country for emergency. Once get there i try to renew my F1 visa but they reject it. Is my B1 good for travel? can i use it?
Unless your B1/2 visa was cancelled at the consulate at the same time that your F-1 application was denied, and provided your B visa is still valid, then you can board a US bound flight and present yourself for admission at a US airport. The decision of whether to admit you or not will be up the the CBP officer who will be inspecting you, and will be directly dependent on your ability to convince him/her of your coming for a temporary visit and of your intention to return home once achieved your purpose.
Unfortunately, there is a position that it is automatically cancelled by operation of law. I had a case like this and successfully argued that as long as the visa was not physically cancelled or revoked it is still valid. My client was admitted.
But - I DO NOT ADVISE YOU TO RUN THE RISK OF BEING REMOVED.
