If the problem was caused by the anesthesiologist, you may want to look into it with a local malpractice attorney. However, as with any procedure, there are always risks. One of the risks of an epidural, however small, is a problem at the level at which the epidural is placed. You may also have developed some problems during the pregnancy. Be sure to consult with someone experienced in malpractice cases in your area.
Sounds like a medical malpractice issues requiring costly experts. You have2 and a half years to sue in NY.
Hire a lawyer to protect your legal rights. Good Luck!
