i'm on L2 visa and i'm suppose to get my divorce in a couple months from now but my L2 is almost expired and i have a B2 visa on my passport ,can i switch from L2 to B2 without leaving the country
As long as the correct petition is filed prior to the expiration of your status, you will be able to stay in the U.S. Keep in mind that it should be approved for you to maintain legal status. You might want to consider other types of status such as the H-1B or F-1 as well. Please see more below.

I will agree with Brian. B2 might not be the solution. You are better off on H1B, F, or if possible on a national interest waiver or an EB1. It is really worth it to have a consultation with a good lawyer on this.
