Can a student look for the employment himself and then apply for the cpt (after getting the job offer letter) ?

Asked over 1 year ago - Sioux Falls, SD

my dso says that a student cannot look for employment himself. If he does,he falls out of status. The school has to search for jobs on his behalf. Im a MBA student.
