After swearning in as an American Citizen. I set out to obtain an American passport to enable me to travel out of the country and see my mom which i have not seen in yrs.My request for a passport was denied based on back child support. I went to family court to make arrengement to pay..and i have been keeping to that payment arengement religiously, but supriseingly, my request for a passport was again rejected on the fact that my support balance has to be zero. The balance is $19.00. and i do not have that to pay in one block. Please can someone advice me on what to do?
It seems your only reasonable option is to pay the $19.00.
It is also probably the cheapest option for you vs. paying an attorney to contest the reasonableness of you having to pay overdue child support of $19.00 to get a passport (w/ fees more than $19) to travel out of country (also presumably more costly than $19.00).
