Hello - one of my employees was hired on a H1B visa 2 years ago - now he is renewing it - in the meantime its expired - am I doing anything wrong as an employer to allow him to still work while he is taking care of it? He cant travel internationally for work because of it and that is part of his job. Also my HR submitted his Social Security to e-Verify online and it came back 'unverifiable' - now Im afraid that I am be exposing my company and not sure what to do.

How does Retirement and Social Security impact on alimony payments to a former spouse?

I have recently retired at age 63 under FERS and had been paying alimony for over 13 years. A Wage Assignment ensued at the time of dissolution and I lost contact with my ex-spouse. Who initiates an order to show cause...my ex spouse or me? Since I no longer earn wages does the garnishment still apply to SSI or any pension funds left and not owed to other creditors? It would seem that her entitlement to file for SSI on my account would be one factor in lowering or eliminating a continuing need for Spousal Support!

About J1 expired and married

Hi, well I came in December 2007 with a J1 visa valid for almost 4 months then tried for a tourist visa which in mid 2008 I received a letter asking to remain economically tests which never answered, having had my social security number i continued working on the same place using this so far and always doing my tax payments. Well just a month ago I married for love and now I want to start my adjustment of status of which I have many questions such as:

Should I declare that I worked all this time?
Does the Turist visa petition which I made at a time affect my situation?
Shall pay a fine?
Also my husband has been paying monthly child support does this affect my adjustment to income that should show my support?
What would be the amount of income that he should prove to make my request?

My girlfriend's car note is behind 4 payments & her great grandmother is the co signer. What happens if it is not paid?

My girlfriend's car note is behind 4 payments and her great grandmother is the co signer (but my girlfriend says that she is the co signer). She wants to give the car back and she recently started working. Her great grandmother is living off of (not sure which one) Social Security or SSI. Is there a chance that her great grandmother's benefits could get garnished or will they come after my girlfriend for payment?
