My girlfriend's car note is behind 4 payments and her great grandmother is the co signer (but my girlfriend says that she is the co signer). She wants to give the car back and she recently started working. Her great grandmother is living off of (not sure which one) Social Security or SSI. Is there a chance that her great grandmother's benefits could get garnished or will they come after my girlfriend for payment?

17 year old made verbal threat, got citation 2 weeks later w/ today's date. Is that appropriate?

Two weeks ago my H.S. brother (age 17) threatened a boy that he would hog tie him and drag him down the street as this boy was in his face. He turned 18 a week ago. Today he was called into the principal's office, and received a citation from an officer for misdeameanor/felony threat as an adult. The other boy filed a claim at the school a week after the of incident, not with local authorities. My brother was removed from class in handcuffs and wrote a statement that day admitting he made that threat. Should the citation have been writen that day? Should it have the day of the incent being 2 weeks ago, or today?

My brother has NEVER been in any trouble (even detention) and is now looking at time in county jail or even prison. ANY advice is greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

can I get a retail theft charge in the mail?

I was at a local Walmart and placed 2 items in my purse total of $24. I paid for my other groceries. As I was leaving I changed my mind and decided not to steal them so I took them out and walked down an empty checkout lane and placed them on the shelf at the empty checkout lane. I realized how dumb it was because I had been caught shoplifting before and I was given a plea of abeyance and they said if I was caught again they would change my first FROM plea of abeyance to a 2nd offense.
As I am looking back I remember seeing a man follow me and he pretended to shop---he then got in the same check out lane as me. He then was waiting for me to leave the store and that is when I took the items back out of my purse........I am just wondering if they can still charge me after the fact.

My husband has a lawyer that has served me with divorce papers, the divorce is contested because marital property that he has disposed of and he doesn't want me to get anything I'm entitled to. I have been on social security disability for 6yrs and cannot afford a lawyer. We have been married for 18yrs separated for the last 3yrs with 2 children I do get child support through oag. I cannot work, my children have their own medical issues that his insurance does not pay and he is not reimbursing me. I am not receiving public assistance. I need immediate financial relief while the divorce is still in process and after its final. We tried to do the divorce ourselves with a mediator but he would not give his financial information, so I was told I need to get a lawyer which I cannot afford.

I was rear ended by a delivery truck, $10,00 damage to my vehicle and I had whiplash and back spasms. Is $900.00 sufficient settlement? I still have occasional spasms, and the responsible party is not willing to make a guarantee of future medical problems being taken care of. Should I hire a lawyer?

Collections calling boyfriend with unsubstantiated claim over rent months after he moved out...

My boyfriend used to live in a slightly dingy apartment complex in Tacoma, WA. When he first moved in, he paid first and last months' rent and a security deposit up front. During the time that he lived there, ownership of the building was transferred from the original owner to one of the employees, but both were always nice and there was never any trouble with either one. My boyfriend moved out and paid all costs in June and received his deposit refund back in August - case closed, we were told. Today he got a call from collections in Tacoma saying he owed $600 for not paying his last month's rent! What is going on here and what should he do about this situation? Thank you!
