My husband was slammed by anoither car this evening. The driver was apprehended w/i 30 minutes of the accident so he was not charged with a hit and run, only a failure to yield. He does have ins and happens to have with the same national company we do. I just cancelled my liabilty ins. 3 weeks ago becasue it is a 11 year old car. I don't have the money to go but a newer one. What are our rights against this individual and the insurance company?

Am i responsible for this?

I rented a car while my car was being repaired. When I picked up the rental, it was night. The lot was very dark. During the customary inspection of the rental, I was told - "Don't worry" , they were just looking for major damage - dents, deep scratches. I did not notice any major damage, but I commented on how difficult it was to see anything as the lot was poorly lit. When I dropped the car off at my repair shop on Saturday , no one could pick the rental up until Monday. It sat at the repair shop for 2 days. I received a call from the rental company on Monday stating there was a paint smudge on the bumper and I had to pay for it. I really feel like I am being scammed. Am I going to have to pay for this? Do I have any recourse?

Falsely Accused Teacher of Abuse

I was told today I was let go from a freelance position as a tutor for a public school system because one of my students said I had slapped her. This occurred in a room with 2 other students. One (her friend) corroborated this story. The other student said she was busy reading and saw nothing (we were all at a small table). I in no way did anything that could be construed as laying a hand on her. I was not given any further info than this before they dismissed me (without paying outstanding invoices they owe me dating back to Sept 09). What legal recourse do I have to 1) protect my valuable reputation (I've been teaching with a flawless record for 45 years) 2) protect myself from this girl lying further and having this turn into something even bigger?

Involved in a car accident where i was not at fault. The person at fault was unisured. Have been through two lawyers already.

The other person was at fault and cited at the scene. I only have limited liability insurance and was not aware of uninsured motorist insurance. Was out of work for a whole month, couldn't pay bills, so now basically i'm stuck with bad credit for the next 7 years and all bills accrued from the accident totaling to more than $5,000. The two different lawyers I have talked to say they can't help me and have dismissed the case. The lawyers or I can't get ahold of the other person. Filed for a small claims lawsuit but justice of the peace is concerned about another issue and not that the defendant didn't show up to court. Something about ambulance chasers. I need help or guidance.

Medicaid estate recovery program question?

My Mom passed away on12/28/08. she was on medicaid in Ohio for about 3-4 years.
While in the nursing home she was severly injuried,my sisiter and I filed a personal/negect injury suit against the home in April 2009.We won a judment this past week and have not received any money yet.

My question is can Medicaid take this money from us ,my Mom had exactly $0 in assets when she died.

Yesterday I received a letter from AG of Ohio stating that she owed Medicaid $142,588 ,and this is a debt of the estate only.does ths money fall into a category of her estate since she had $0

The lawyer who handled our suit said he does not know about something like this,I wonder about him.

I would not think this would be an asset, that is why I am asking this question.

Can a university be held liable for libel by one its employees?

A University of Washington Medical Center researcher has been routinely lying about me in internet forums for over 3 years now. I've been ignoring it, but now finally considering putting together a lawsuit as the lies have gotten more outrageous the more I ignore him (I had to call the police to get him to stop contacting me directly via email). Can the University be held liable for his behavior? To what degree can people be held liable for internet comments that are untrue and meant to discredit others.

This young lady came and hit my car, dads truck, and my dad. The young lady showed the police proof of insurance, later to find out that her dads insurance had been expired. We had a lawyer, but when she found out that the person that hit us didn't have insurance, the lawyer drop the case, telling us that she could not do anything.
