can a non-profit athletic club deny membership to a potential participant who does not have health insurance

Club pending 501c3 status, having general liability insurance under their Sport Association.

Clubs question is whether or not they can request to see a copy of a person's insurance card to verify that they have insurance. It was advised to them that you would not be able to do this because of HIPAA laws, no way 100% to verify coverage is active, and it would be discrimination.

How to maximize the damage award value in a wrongful death suit for my 94 year old mother and what states are best example

My mother died due to malpractice. The lawyers here say because she was old and had no earnings it is not worth the suit regardless of how gross the malpractice was. We find this offensive! What should a suit like this cost and if i complain to my state legislature what laws from other states can I sight that allow a high damage award for wrongful death regardless of age? My mother was misdiagnosed and treated for the wrong ailment. This was discovered only becuase we demanded an autopsy. She had ovarian cancer which was never diagnosed or treated in spite of being in a hospital for the last month of her life. On the date of her death she had 6 liters of fluid in her abdomen and 650 ml in her lungs that could have been easily drained but the doctors did not realize that it was an emergency

Fmla discrimination/violation

I was on a medical leave of absence and my job was protected by FMLA. The day that I found out my doctor was going to release me back to work which would be two weeks after my FMLA expired I let my manager know through an email. I let her know my return date and that I would be bringing in my release and if she needed anything else from me to let me know. Two days later I received a letter through UPS stating that my position could not be held any longer than the expiration date of my FMLA. My question that I have is that I was told by my ex-coworkers that similar positions are open to be filled and I have also seen postings for my position on company website. Is my employer violating my rights? I feel that I am being discrimated against due to my illness. Please help.

My husband has worked for the same construction co.(non-union) for 32 years. He is in their painting dept.
The company supplies their work uniforms.
Everytime it's time for his annual review, upon which his annual raise is based upon, they start harassing him about his uniforms being too dirty, thus, use this as a means for a minute raise.Over the years & a few bosses gone, the same problem-they never issue him his uniforms complete.I wash his work clothes as well as they will come clean(paint just doesn't come out of white canvas!).Besides this issue, for 3+yrs. now,he is isolated from working w/ the others. He hasn't been allowed to work inside,or with the other painters in the apts.
They assign him 'power washing' the sidewalks, driveways, etc.
Before,he was the #1 painter & had master keys.

I was recently fired for smoking on company property

I was recently fired for smoking on company property after I had clocked out. I work at a restaurant and many of the employees smoke on the property. Our managers say "our smoking area" is in another businesses parking lot. This particular manager did not like me and I feel it was just a way for him to get rid of me. I have been employed by this company for 2 years. I was one of the few long term employees they had. Are there any legal actions I can take?

I was banned from a restaurant in virginia because the owner heard a rumor that I made a rude comment about his wife. Is it legal for them to kick me out and ban me over something like that? I was a paying customer not causing a scene or anything. If there is anything I can do such as file a complaint or something please point me in the right direction.

Heating question re Chicago condo

I live in a 30 unit condo building in Chicago. We have radiator heat and the cost is included in our assessment. For some reason my unit is extremely warm approx 77 degrees with my unit's radiators turned off. If I open my window(s) to cool down my unit, the Condo Board wants to charge me a $100 fine. Is this legal?

Wrongful termination?

My husband has been employeed by a very well known transportation company for 3 years with a perfect work history. He has recently been fired for what they call "a violation of company policy". These are the reasons he was given. Using the internet for non-work related instances, allowing someone else to use password while out (boss told him to do this), using email for personal use and removing the password protection from his computer (which his old computer did not have).
He has never received an employee handbook and just took an online course on security last month. Please advise if this would be worth pursuing or what can be done, if anything.
