How much time is served for Grand theft and Unauthorised computer access.

Hi my friend is facing two criminal charges in California. Grand theft in violation of the California Penal code 484-487 and Computer access to obtain money in violation of California Penal code 502. I want to know what would be the best outcome of plea bargaining, can he plead guilty to 1 charge and the other be dropped and if so what kind of time he is looking at?.

If convicted will he serve his time in state prison or county and how is the time served calculated in California such as will he serve 50% or how does credits work.

I would be grateful and delighted with your opinions.

can a student on a j1 visa work online from home (Network marketing)

I'm an exchange student in the US, I have been offered to participate in network marketing, as a work from my computer at home, in order to try to make some extra dollars a month. I don't get paid a salary, but I get commission for every body that I convince to participate within this network marketing activity. if I know that the mother company is trustful and not a fraud, would that be considered as work and though prohibited by the J1 Visa regulations or not?
Please advise

How do I file criminal charges against someone who used my identity over the internet to apply for a credit card account?

I have the IP address of the person who used my identity to try to open a credit card account in my name. I had my friend who is a Network Systems Engineer lookup the IP address on Reverse DNS and found out it came from a Sprint Wireless Aircard. I wish to file charges against this person because I am certain who it is and all I need to prove is that that person used their aircard to connect to this site to apply during said time. Should I go to a prosecuter with this info?

I wrote a book, sent it to the library of congress for the copyright, I put more work into the the book since recieving the copyright and feel it is the best version of what I created. My ex-girlfriend and mother of my beautiful 9 year old daughter, will not give it to me. What can I legally do? I just found out earlier this week that she also has 6 credit card in my daughters name that are all maxed out and in collection.

I found out my ex-boss is still using my profile to accept jobs in a subcontractor forum. He accepted a job under my profile that required a background check. He submitted the paperwork with my SSN and DL # and signed my name. I have not worked for him for the last 12 months, he just did this in the past month. This can't be legal. What can I do?

How can I protect myself against my ex-husband who installed a keystroke program in my computer monitoring me?

We were divorced four months ago but experts found a keystroke program in my computer and streaming video and audio links I never put in. This guy already forged my name on tax returns and took $250,000 out of the home that was in my name alone, in addition to stealing our children's money. Is there any recourse? The police are disinterested.

Is there a car sales cancellation option in Ohio (24 hour or two days, etc.)?

We feel we have been mislead about the condition of the used car (as-is dealership purchase) because the engine light came on in less than 24 hours indicating a clogged catalytic converter. We suspect the computer was reset to temporarily show no engine light.

Can I sue a credit card company for harrassing me because my identity was stolen?

2 years ago a "friend" took out a credit card without my knowledge or consent. It had a 5000.00 limit, he wrote bad checks to charge more and ran it up to 14000.00 before I found out what was going on. He took responsibility for it and set up a payment plan to pay it off. I was told by Citibank that It was cleared up. Now he stopped paying and they are back to harrassing me again, even threatening legal action against me. This has been very stressful and is putting a hugh strain on me and my family. Also, I told them I would press charges if the sent me the info like copies of signed cc slips, IP addresses of the computer used for these transactions and so forth. They will do nothing.
         Thank you,
                         Fred Montgomery
