Can I get sued by a former employer for starting my own similar business?

I was hired by a small CPR company in California as a telemarketer. 2 weeks after my hire date they promoted me to a CPR instructor, customer service rep, and was still telemarketing.

I now have a newborn son and need to bring in more income so after a year of employment I have decided to start my own CPR business.

This was brought up to my employer and says that I am making a "mistake."

I am no longer with this company.

Should I fear being sued by my ex employer if I proceed to open up a CPR business?

I initialed a Non Compete clause
Under no circumstances will I solicit clients of XX either before, during, or after class is completed, and for a period of two years commencing on the date the class is completed.

My mother died of a stroke in June 2005 and took Vioxx for a number of years. Is there any recourse for my husband's family?

I was doing research for a class project with my son and came across information concerning Merck and how families were being compensated for the loss of their loved ones. My mother-in-law took Vioxx for at least 2 years and died of a massive brain stem sroke in mid-June, 2005. Is it too late to seek damages for my husband's family? Would we see a local attorney or is there a class action suit? Not sure where to start or even whether to bother. I always knew this horrible drug would take her life! I was horrified that as many as 200,000 people lost their lives due to this ONE drug and this company still is allowed to market their products? What is wrong with that picture?!

I was pulled over for speeding, then the officer gave me a breathalyzer test,I was drinking earlier that night. But he never asked me if I was drinking. Then He told me that I was not being arrested, he's only taking me to the station for a second test, which came out .10. This is my first offense, he took my license and gave me a paper to drive. I have no idea what to do, that was over the weekend. What's my next step, and was I arrested or was he telling the truth? Please Help. Thanks

What happens when probation before judgement after DUI is violated?

We live in MD.
My spouse was arrested earlier this year for DUI. His sentence was probation before judgement. He was also ordered not to drink and to attend alcohol classes/counseling. He has not been attending:(
He was recently drinking and driving again (has been all along) and his probation officer found out.
What happens now? This is a violation of probation? Do they arrest him?
If arrested and they find that he did do these things will he have to serve time? What is typical in this situation?

Can I sue my ex-box for slander, deflamation of character and possibly anything else??

I quit my job as Sales Manager (no non-compete) and started my own company, doing the SAME thing he does. He is currently out on bail for Child Molestation, that my 15 yr old son is a witness, along with myself. When he found out that we had appointments with SVU he came up with the bright idea of calling local PD and filing a report accusing me of LARCENY and RICO violations, as well as telling the Police that I am a drug addict. Then oddly my house gets broken into but nothings taken The investagation against me is closed. The Detective in the case has taken warrants for him for Filing False Police Reports and Obstruction. Since this is a small, specialized type of business it has drastically affected my business (I'm a single mom of 3 boys), my mental health and I fear for our safety

what is a notice to attend trial? Is it mandatory and can I be penalized for not attending?

received a notice to attend trial and have been told it works like a subpoena and that I can be taken to court for not attending. I have to miss work to attend the trial (it is a class action lawsuit). The company that served the notice said that the employees don't have to miss work unless called to testify, but they are not removing the notice. I'm confused - am I required to go or not?

Can I get an H1 visa with an Associates Degree from the USA?

Hi,

Here is my case. I came here 3 years ago to study Graphic Design (A.S.) because I couldn't afford anything else. In my second year of classes I got a job at a Printing Company and worked with them under CPT (Curricular Practical Training). After I finished my A.S. I continued working with them under OPT(Optional Practical Training)

Now, my year under OPT is almost over. I have been trained in all aspects of the business, and was named Store Manager. I have gained more experience in this year and half with them, than in my entire degree. At this point I am the one that runs the store and the one who takes care of orders and knows how all the printers work.
My company really wants to sponsor me, they say they'll do anything to keep me here.
Is there any way?
