Collaborative

Although some divorces end up in court, other methods exist to legally end a marriage. One such method is collaborative divorce, which begins with the agreement of both parties to dissolve the marriage outside of the court. Each party hires a collaborative divorce attorney, and together with the divorcing spouses, the attorneys help negotiate all aspects of the divorce, including how to divide assets and, if children are involved, how to allocate parental responsibilities. Unlike a regular divorce attorney, a lawyer with experience with collaborative divorce will help you work with your spouse and his or her attorney in order to come to an agreement about how to end the marriage that is satisfactory for both parties.
