NOT GUILTY - JUDGMENT OF ACQUITTAL

Deputies stopped my client, a convicted felon, for driving on a suspended license. Inside of the vehicle was a firearm and ammunition, both of which are illegal for a convicted felon to possess. The State thereafter charged my client with Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Felon in Possession of Ammunition. The case proceeded to a jury trial and the State attempted to link both the firearm and the ammunition to my client. At the close of the State's case, I argued successfully to the Judge that the State had not presented enough evidence to prove that my client exercised care, custody and control over the firearm nor ammunition found in the vehicle and therefore did he not actually possess the firearm nor the ammunition.
