This high profile case was covered by the press nationally and internationally. The defendant, William Monaghan, an Irish carpenter, was accused of murdering Lionel Voillat, a Swiss citizen, by throwing him from a party yacht into San Francisco Bay on Halloween night, 2001.

With Mr. Quigley defending, Mr. Monaghan was acquitted of murder, and has returned home to Ireland where he lives with his family.
