Ms. Hightower was charged with the scalding death of a toddler. The prosecution charged her with murder, manslaughter, assault on a child causing death and child abuse. The prosecution argued that she dipped the child in scalding water to punish the child. We believed the death to be a tragic accident. The jury agreed and acquitted her on all counts.
