Summary Judgment granted; AFFIRMED on Appeal

Defended two Houston attorneys sued for legal malpractice stemming from their handling of a complex shareholder oppression case. Prior to my representation, attorney clients had lost the largest jury verdict in the United States in 1998 ($1+ billion). That underlying case was reversed and rendered to zero on appeal. Shareholders then filed a new derivative lawsuit alleging attorney clients had failed to protect shareholders’ interests in a $20 million dollar settlement. Successfully prepared, argued and won summary judgment for both attorney clients in the trial court; the case has just been affirmed by the Court of Appeals. The case will be published in July of 2008; a citation will be assigned at that time.
