Judgment on behalf of the Plaintiffs

This was a constitutional challenge to Maryland's early voting law. In the winter of 2006, the General Assembly, over the Governor's veto, passed legislation instituting a system of early voting in Maryland. The Plaintiffs challenged this legislation on the grounds that it violated Maryland's Constitution. The Maryland Court of Appeals granted certiorari and affirmed the injunction previously entered by the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County enjoining the Maryland State Board of Elections from implementing or enforcing the early voting statute.
