Califano v Ryder Truck

This case went to trial in Nassau County. The plaintiff was driving a car which was struck by a Ryder truck rented by a company insured by State Farm. State Farm contested liability and the plaintiff's injury. The plaintiff suffered a TMJ injury (temporomandibular joint). The defendant's attorney hired a doctor testified that the TMJ injury was a result of very poor dental care throughout the life of the plaintiff. The jury rendered a verdict in favor of the plaintiff and the amount of $450,000. I believe that this is the highest verdict in Nassau County for a TMJ injury.
