Prevented the deportation of 2,700 Somalis

One of the attornies in national, class action habeas corpus action that prevented the deportation of 2,700 Somalis from around the country. The suit claimed that the US could not deport people to Somalia because there was no government that could accept them. The Ninth Circuit Court upheld the decision of Judge Pechman in the Western District of Washington.

Ultimately overturned by the Supreme Court case in Jama v. Ashcroft.
