Patricia (Tricia) Gifford earned her Juris Doctorate from the John Marshall Law School, Chicago, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude in January 2006. Graduating second in her law school class, her GPA was 3.94. While at John Marshall, Tricia was a member of The John Marshall Law Review, a Dean's Scholar, a Herzog Scholar, and participated in the National Mock Trial Team Competition. She received the highest scholastic honors in Torts, Evidence, Products Liability, Civil Procedure, Family Law, Constitutional Law, Estates and Trusts, and Corporations. While attending law school, she also interned with both the DuPage and Cook County State's Attorney's Offices.
Tricia joined Spiros Law as a Senior Associate attorney in 2014 after having spent over eight years practicing plaintiff’s personal injury work in Chicago where she helped to recover a number of multi-million dollar settlements and verdicts for clients in all types of personal injury and wrongful death cases.
Notably, Tricia helped to recover a $6.5 million birth injury settlement for a young girl who suffers from cerebral palsy as a result of medical malpractice, along with a $6.5 million trucking accident settlement for the family of a 32-year-old woman who was killed when her family’s pick-up truck was rear-ended by a semi-truck.
Recently, Tricia has achieved over $15 million in nursing home and medical malpractice cases. These notable results include a $1 million nursing home fall settlement, a $970,000 medical malpractice settlement, a $919,000 nursing home negligence settlement and a $861,000 nursing home tracheostomy tube error settlement.
Tricia also recently obtained two noteworthy nursing home verdicts for victims of negligence- a $645,000 verdict and an $842,000 verdict, both in the Circuit Court of Cook County. Additionally, in 2009, Tricia achieved a $1 million jury verdict for the family of a 54-year-old blind nursing home resident who exited a window at the nursing home and died from fall-related injuries.
Outside of the courtroom, Tricia serves as co-chair of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association’s Legislative Committee. The Committee was instrumental in the passage of legislation that made it easier for families to obtain their loved ones’ medical records.
Tricia earned her B.A. from the University of Illinois at Champaign and began her career in the private business sector. After 12 years of corporate success, she decided to leave her position as director of U.S. Field Operations for a $550 million client services organization to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a plaintiff’s attorney.
