John and the team did an excellent job with my case. The expertise, approach and attention to detail were exactly what I needed to win my case.
A DWI is the quickest eye opener to just how fast your life can change and suck the fun out of a vacation ski trip. With a 25 year career on the line and all that I stood to lose this flashed before me in the few hours I endured the arrest process. Once the shock factor had settled, I felt the string of events that had happened to me could be very questionable so I begin the journey to rectify the problem.
Living out of state and finding an attorney was my first challenge. My third phone call landed me an interview with John Landreth. He was very detailed and took a great deal of his time to explain my rights, the NC laws and the legal process I could expect. By the end of our conversation I felt his confidence and knew I was in good hands. He ensured me that it was better to have him than not.
With Mr. Landreth’s knowledge of NC laws, his knowledge of the Judges who are sitting that day, to the police officers and the staff there helps in making a decision for the best interest of clients. He is honest in every answer whether good or bad, explaining he can’t make promises but always ensured me he'd do his absolute best. He displayed great professionalism with a fierce drive and hard work to "right" the wrongs and to win my case. I am elated to report I walked out of the courtroom with a DISMISSAL. His work at my trial was masterful! He was thorough, and diligent in not stopping with questions to the law enforcement with the things that were not in accordance at my arrest.
I truly know he wants the best possible outcome for his clients. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone in need of a top notch DWI attorney.
Attorney John Landreth of Powers McCartan in Charlotte, NC was my criminal defense attorney for a jury trial in NC. His trial preparations for my case helped us win the criminal case that was tried in NC. He did an awesome job with the opening, questioning the witness, and objecting to statements from the DA to protect my rights. He did an awesome job appealing to the jury in his closing argument that helped the jury return a not guilty verdict. He was very professional and well prepared. I'd highly recommend anyone to hire Mr. John Landreth to represent them in a case in NC.
I was charged while I was out of town on vacation, I didnt think I had a chance but after meeting with john and reviewing the case John told me we will fight this until the end and that's what we did. He knows what he is doing in the courtroom, within 30 minutes of trial hearing the district attorney I thought there wouldnt be a chance but was I wrong John was making sure every mistake be known. If your looking for someone to stand in your corner John is the man to hire!!
Mr. Landreth did such an awesome job in my defense. He made sure all procedures were handled proptly and professionally. I felt like he really cared about my case and did everything he could to help with my defense. I was always treated with respect and kindness, which means a lot to me. Other attorney's I had spoken to, or dealt with prior to Mr. Landreth did not. ( Honestly I felt like they could care less). I would definitely recommend Mr. Landreth to my family and friends if they would need his services. It was such a hopeful, and positive expierence to know there are still lawyers out there who really do care. Mr. Landreth was able to get my case dismissed, and I am looking forward to getting my life back now. I could not be happier with Mr. Landreth, or my outcome.
John Landreth went far and beyond to help me with my DWI case. I was smart enough to get another opinion after hiring my original attorney who did absolutley nothing for me. That is when i spoke with John about my case and he was EAGER to represent me. He explained to me why it was important for me to not only let go of my original attorney but to hire him so he could do all he could to get me out of it. Every question I had he was able to answer right away and kept me in the mix during the whole process. Yes I had to pay for ANOTHER attorney after i had hired one but it was WELL worth it. He was able to get me a not guilty verdict in superior court. I would highly recommend him to anyone dealing with a DWI. He is a professional at what he does and I was very pleased with all of his hard work.
I'm not used to the court room and when I got a speeding ticket with mandatory court appearance I was intimidated. John took care of everything and made sure I was represented in a way to protect me from license and insurance points. I never had to worry about it and got a great outcome. They are professional, good communicators, and very reliable.

I hired the firm Powers Mccarten to represent me for a DWI. I was assigned John. They told me up front at my first meeting what the strategy would be. The officer made some mistakes during my arrest and John expressed that there was a decent chance we could get the charges dropped--but he did not guarantee anything. Honestly, I thought they were just trying to get me to hire them and were telling me what I wanted to here. I was absolutely wrong.
John never sugar coated anything and told me exactly what to expect at every step of the case. There were numerous delays because of the very poor management of Iredell County courts--so this thing lasted over 2 years. Every time John gave me the straight up of what was going on and basically calmed me down about the factors that are out of our control during legal trials. I had enormous anxiety throughout this whole process and every time I talked to John I came back down and calmed down--he reassured me of our defense strategy and told me that's just how these things go and they take time.
Then the day of the trial came, and standing in that court in front of the judge, prosecutor, and arresting officer was honestly intimidating (as much as I hate to admit it). They opened with the prosecutor and officer giving their side, and guess what? they made me feel guilty--I thought "just give me the guilty verdict and let's get this done with". Then it was John's turn. It was like watching a prize fighter. I actually started to enjoy watching him. John was not flashy, he was sharp and spoke with deep conviction, he knew the law back and forth. He made the cop and the prosecutor look like jackasses. John actually looked like he was enjoying himself in the courtroom. He showed that the officer did not follow procedure and that he violated my rights during the arrest. The judge gave me a Not Guilty verdict by the end of the 2.5 hour trial.
This guy will fight for you. It's real lonely in that courtroom when you're in front of the cops and a system that seems unfair, but John was right there by my side fighting for me like he was fighting for himself. It sounds crazy, but it was kind of entertaining too--I felt like I was at Vegas and just put a million bucks on a boxer. He is extremely good at the push and pull dance of criminal court, it was seriously cool to see him execute his strategy to perfection.
I found out about John through people that recommended that I go to Bill Powers for DWIs. Well now I will be recommending John Landreth by name. I won't be surprised if I see a Landreth and Associates pop up in the near future.

I had a DWI case that sat around for 2 years and three months with a previous lawyer I had that was clearly not knowledgeable on DWI cases. I was very frustrated/hopeless with my previous lawyer and struggled with the question to switch lawyers. After 5 minutes on the phone with John Landreth I knew he was really going to fight for me. I decided to switch lawyers to John Landreth. He immediately came in and pushed the court system to dismiss the case. We got a FINAL court date and ultimately got the case dismissed. I feel very relieved that I chose John and his team. It was definitely money well spent. At the end of all this I felt very comfortable with the Powers Mccartan team and really appreciate all the work in preparation for my case. Very professional and I would recommend John and the team to anyone.

I highly recommend you use Bill Powers and John Landreth! I was unfortunately faced with a DWI and a speeding ticket a few months ago. I was a mess and did not know who to turn to for help. I met with one lawyer who I was told to go to by family members. I did not have a good feeling when I left his office. To make a long story short I ended up talking with John Landreth and Bill Powers. I knew right away I wanted to use Powers McCartan Law Firm. There are no words to describe how happy and grateful I am that I used them. I feel they truly went above and beyond throughout my case right up to the end. My DWI got dismissed and my speeding ticket got lowered. I truly thankful for all they did throughout my case. If you ever get yourself in a horrible situation I promise Powers McCartan Law Firm will do all they can do to get your life back to normal!
